The Consortium for Energy, Economics and the Environment has the ability to bridge the gap between scientists and policy makers, helping to explain the real-world impacts of proposed policies on future energy availability and the environment. CE3 is dedicated to providing nonpartisan research and analysis that supports decision-making related to energy independence, economic growth, and environmental sustainability on the regional, state, and national levels.
Below are examples of some of the ways that CE3 is working to provide analysis to support sound policy decision-making.
2009
On February 2nd, The Voinovich Center for Leadership and Public affairs sponsored an Energy Consortium conference hosted by State Representative, Debbie Phillips. All business owners, entrepreneurs, economic developers, and interested citizens were invited to learn more about grants and loans for clean and advanced energy. The first presentation was by TechGrowthOhio and the second presentation is by Ohio Air Quality Development Authority.
2008
In May, CE3 released "An Ohio Perspective on Energy and Climate Change"
at the event hosted by the Ohio Climate Change Dialogue Group, Managing
a Changing Climate: Challenges & Opportunities for the Buckeye
State. The report details the role of energy in Ohio’s economy and the
impacts of future changes to climate change policy and new electricity
regulations. It also provides options for how Ohio can deal with these
changes.
2007
In January, CE3 briefed new legislators about advanced energy and environmental policy options and their implications for Ohio.
In December, CE3 Executive in Residence, Michael J. Zimmer, Thompson
Hine, LLP, testified at the Ohio House Public Utilities Committee
Hearing on electric restructuring legislation.
2006
In March, CE3 worked with U.S. Senator George V. Voinovich to convene
over 100 key policy makers and energy stakeholders from around Ohio to
explore ways to increase Ohio and our nation’s energy independence. The
recommendations from the Energy Summit were released in September. “Ohio: Securing America’s Energy Future,” outlined over 150 bipartisan public policy recommendations of private and public energy experts.
